Division II—Design 


Section A-- All classes eligible for the Award of Design Excellence. Minimum of four entries per class.

 

Class 1—“Oliver Twist”—A Creative Line Design 

A Creative Design in which line directions is dominant, characterized by open silhouette, a minimum of plant material and other (optional) components. Design to be limited to a half of a 6’ table 29” deep, covered with tan plastic. Designer’s Choice of plant material. There is no limit on height and backgrounds are optional. 


Class 2— “A Tale of Two Cities”—A Construction Design 

A Creative Design with strong overall architectural characteristics resulting from the use of geometric form or forms combined into a single unit. Designer’s choice of plant material. Space is limited to a half of a 6’ table 29” deep, covered with tan plastic. Designer to provide background; no height limit, but design should not exceed background. 


Class 3—“Little Dorrit”—A Creative Design 

Design is not to exceed 18” in any direction. Designer’s choice of plant material, but material and other components must be in scale is important. Designs will be staged on a pedestal 12” high, 24” x 24” placed on a table in front of neutral-colored backgrounds provided by the committee. Space on the background showing above the pedestal will be 24” x 24.” 


Class 4— “Great Expectations” Breakfast at Mermaid House 

A breakfast tray design for one. All components must be in appropriate scale for the size of the tray, to include a decorative unit with fresh flowers. The decorative unit and all appointments must be placed on tray. Functionality of service is important—tray must be able to be carried.
